So, a little update on my '52 books a year' reading goal...16 down, 36 to go. And what a variety of books that I have been able to read (listen to) in the last 2 months. Romance galore courtesy of 'Talia Hibbert' in her 3-book series (the final one is coming out soon & I can't wait to listen to it too). Biographies which are not really my thing, but 'Steve Jobs' & 'Candice Brathwaite' have succeeded in changing my mind. A subtle reminder that Racism was & is still ongoing in our society is beautifully captured by 'Brit Bennett', 'Yaa Gyasi' & 'Bernadine Evaristo'. The ravages of civil wars are the main theme by 'Aminatta Forna' in her book set in 'post-war' Sierra Leone. 'Gail Honeyman' shines a light on 'Mental Health' in her book but with a very light tone that makes you laugh while reading such a heavy topic. But to be honest, the book by 'Mark Manson' which everyone was talking about & praising was quite a disappointment for me. Even someone like me who is not so much into self-help books found his ideas neither new nor 'ground-breaking'. And finally the work of fiction by 'Oyinkan Braithwaite' also failed to impress me that much, I found it boring & somehow very predictable.
'Audible' can continue taking my money because am really enjoying widening my taste for books & hopefully, I will be able to reach my set goal by the end of the year.
