Some call it 'Tartan print' but for me, this is a 'Maasai print' because it is widely associated with the 'Maasai' of East Africa. I used a 'Maasai shuka' to make this a ruffle skirt whose design was inspired by the popular Gingham ruffle skirts. I made this skirt a couple of months ago when I needed a 'Kenyan-inspired' outfit to attend the 'Sauti Sol' concert in Berlin (but it has since then lost some inches on the hemline). Am pretty late jumping on the 'Gingham' bandwagon as you can see, but better late than never right. I bought this dress earlier this summer off of Ebay but for some reason, never got to wear it. I honestly felt that I was showing too much with the sleeveless arms, short length & a slit too. So, I looked for a fabric with the similar print, added long sleeves to it, a ruffle detail & created an inverted 'envelope' on the slit.

'Women who support each other are confident, generous, visionaries'........Mariela Dabbah This is an exhibition & market founded by Cleopatra Hänsen which aims to bring together talented women who are also business owners to give them an opportunity to showcase their products. It takes place a couple of times in a year & I was able to attend the last one this year for the first time.

Is there an overdue date for Tulle skirts & princesses? Not really in my view, anyone and at any age can rock a Tutu & play a princess for a day whenever they want. I enjoyed making this Gingham skirt & twirled around in it all day long like a real-life princess should.

Finding a camel coat that was the perfect length that I wanted & which was affordable too turned out to be a major problem. So, I decided to make one myself which turned out quite cute especially when styled with this Gingham top that I made myself too. And now that the sunny & warmer side of Spring is taking it's sweet time to show up, I get a chance to rock my new coat now.
